Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)
How can I sign up to be a part of this program?
Registration is limited because Fresh from Florida Kids is a pilot program in partnership with 5 Florida Healthy Start Coalitions. This 3-phase program is available in Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami-Dade, Tallahassee, and Tampa. Participants are families with children 5-7 months old at the time of registration.
However, if you do not have access to one of these Healthy Start Coalitions and your child is in this age group, please e-mail fishmat@doacs.state.fl.us or mullane@doacs.state.fl.us for consideration in our program. If your child is outside our age requirement please visit the other sections of our website for information and healthy feeding tips.
Can “Fresh from Florida Kids” donate materials for my event or program?
Unfortunately, Fresh from Florida Kids is a pilot program and at this time we have not produced extra kits or information for distribution. We urge you to use our website which has all of the printed information plus new monthly recipes for families and other updates. Please feel free to use any of this information.
I am interested in learning how to make homemade baby food. What is available for me?
You can find all our printed information plus new tips and recipes in the sections “Food Preparation Guidelines” and “Kid Recipes” located under Phase One. You will find everything you need to know to prepare your own fresh baby food.
